Exploring Manchester | Travel*

Last Friday my husband and decided to have a night away in Manchester! As we both lived in Manchester for a number of years we often drive over to visit friends and spend time there. I would say its one of my favourite UK cities and if it wasn't for previous circumstances we would probably have still lived there now, however, I do love being able to drive down the M62 to visit. Some friends had bought us a hotel gift voucher as a wedding gift last year and as it was our 10 years of being together anniversary this month we decided to use the voucher and enjoy a night away.

There are plenty of amazing hotels in Manchester On this occasion we stayed at the Malmaison as mentioned we had a voucher from friends, I would fully recommend it as it was a great location, fantastic facilities such as a spa, great breakfast in the morning and a lovely bar which when we visited had an acoustic singer in.

We drove over and arrived around 2pm - we where pretty hungry so we decided to visit the Alchemist which is on New York Street - just behind Piccadilly gardens in the city centre. I have eaten here a few times and drank here rather a lot of times as they have delicious cocktails. We decided to share the 'social' which consisted of BBQ wings, nachos, pork bon bons, fried mac ‘n’ cheese, tempura prawns, veg sticks & houmous - it was really nice and was just enough to fill us up in anticipation of a big evening meal.

We where then lucky enough to have a spa treatment booked at our hotel so we had to head back there. I had a facial and Darren had a back massage - it was fabulous and very relaxing! We then just went to our room and had some time to chill out, we both had shower and drank a bottle of prosecco while watching the chase laid on the bed - such a  glam life when you married!
We then got dressed and went for our evening meal!

We first had a cocktail each - mine was a rhubarb gin cocktail which was delicious. We then decided we both just fancied a main meal, I had a duck Penang curry and Darren had a steak - they where both lovely.

After our meal we hit the town and visited a few bars:

Atlas Bar - The largest selection of gin in Manchester - totally over 420 different variations of Gin, this was an obvious choice for us to visit. It is located on Deansgate locks and has won various awards including Winner of Best Spirits Bar North West

The Oast House - A fantastic outdoor space located in Spinningfields open until 2am making it the perfect spot to drink away your evening! We sat outside listening to the live band drinking more gins, slowly moving on to a few late night wines!!

As we ended up staying in the Oast house until they chucked us out I thought I would mention a few of my all time favourite bars in Manchester.
Sunset Bar, Spinningfields - Extremely insta worth and delicious drinks
Alberts Schloss - Expect live music, drag acts and lots of dancing
Duke's 42 - PERFECT for spending a day in the sunshine with fruity cider on tap

After our delicious and much needed breakfast the next morning we decided to drive over to the Trafford centre as Darren wanted to buy a new fragrance and we needed a few bits. I ended up buying a dress from the Primark section in Selfridges, a Zoeva palette and some new pants from Victoria Secrets. Darren picked up a new Jo Malone fragrance which was heavenly!

We had a lovely relaxing weekend and I already can now wait to re-visit.
