5 things to do in Edinburgh | Travel

I recently went to Edinburgh for the first time! I had wanted to go for so long so when I had the chance to take Darren for his birthday I thought yes why not, lets go! I booked a Travel lodge just off the Royal Mile and decided we would drive there even though its a long 5 hours from Hull! I booked us to do two distillery tours and to see the castle, the rest of the time we just planned to explore.

I scrolled through Pinterest to find the must do activities, and most of them would just say visit the cafes, walk around and go to the castle so that was pretty much the plan! We stayed for two nights, so didn't have loads of time but managed to see quiet a lot of the city. Today I thought I would share my top 5 things to do if you are only there for a few days!

Visit a Gin Distillery
The very reason we took a trip to Edinburgh was to learn where our favourite Gin was made! Have a read of my full post all about the Pickerings Gin Distillery for further details, if your up for a bit of gin history and some tasting it's the place for you. We also visited the Edinburgh Gin Distillery tour - slightly different but still just as interesting topped off with samples you just can't go wrong !

Explore the Castle
The most popular tourist attraction in the city, if you don't like crowds I would avoid however, if you are up for learning some history and seeing some stunning views you need to get yourself there! Purchase your ticket online before you go or you'll fall victim of an hours worth of queuing.

Hit the bars
There are sooo many quirky bars in the city! From the bar disguised as a barbers shop to out door pop ups with live music, Edinburgh has it all!  We enjoyed quiet a few cocktails as well as copious amounts of Gin! We loved a pop up bar called Malones on the Mall, I'm not sure how long its around for but if you love live music its a must do! We also really liked a place called Tiger Lily, it has amazing decor and very delicious cocktails. The one we had to hunt out was Panda & Sons, a hidden bar disguised as a Barber shop!

Enjoy some delicious food.
There are a lot of restaurants to suit all budgets, I researched a few before we went and came across a place called Cannonball, located right next to the castle. If your a bit of a foodie you'll love it here! I had the most delicious Lobster Mac & Cheese and of course we had to sample the haggis 'cannonballs' which where incredible. We also visited a Thai, this was a last minute - we are starving - decision, named Krua Khan Mae. It was so delicious and very deceiving as it was located down a little ally, so initially a little dodgy but looks where very deceiving!

As most city centres Edinburgh is filled with popular high street shops! There are also lots of smaller boutique stores too where you can pick up some one of a kind pieces and as you are in Scotland you have to purchase a mandatory tartan scarf.

I hope this helps you plan your visit to Edinburgh & I hope you have a fabulous time if you do go!

  1. Good day
Read my testimony! Getting ex back after a breakup.
My boyfriend of a 2year just broke up with me and am 28 weeks pregnant. I have cried myself to sleep most of the nights and don’t seem to concentrate during lectures sometimes I stay awake almost all night thinking about him and start to cry all over again. Because of this I end up not having energy for my next day’s classes, my attendance has dropped and am always in uni and on time. Generally he is a very nice guy, he ended it because he said we were arguing a lot and not getting along. He is right we’ve been arguing during the pregnancy a lot. After the break up I kept ringing him and telling him I will change. I am in love with this guy and he is the best guy I have ever been with. I’m still hurt and in disbelief when he said he didn’t have any romantic feelings towards me anymore that hurt me faster than a lethal syringe. He texts me once and then mainly to check up on how am doing with the pregnancy, he is supportive with it but it’s not fair on me, him texting me as I just want to grieve the pain and not have any stress due to the pregnancy. I was really upset and I needed help, so I searched for help online and I came across a website that suggested that Dr Ahmed can help solve marital problems, restore broken relationships and so on. So I felt I should give him a try. I contacted him and he told me what to do and I did it then he did a spell for me. 28 hours later, my boyfriend came to me and apologized for the wrongs he did and promise never to do it again. Ever since then, everything has returned back to normal. I and my boyfriend are living together happily again.. All thanks to Dr Ahmed. as it is a place to resolve marriage/relationship issues, do you want to be sure if your spouse is being faithful to you or Do you want your Ex to come back to you Contact.: E-mail: Ahmedutimate@gmail.com call him/What’s-app: +2348160153829 save your crumbling home. I suggest you contact him. He will not disappoint you.
